Dental Crowns & Bridges in Ridgefield
Do you have a decayed or fractured tooth you need to restore? Is there a gap in your smile from a missing tooth? Dr. Dana Jones and Dr. Josephine Franzese of Ridgefield Perfect Smile Center offer two exceptional services that can help you get the restorative care you need. With your custom made restoration, you’ll not only have a stronger smile but a healthier smile as well.
Dental Crowns
A dental crown is a special restoration that’s made to protect a decayed, fractured, or otherwise damaged tooth. Our office uses all-ceramic restorations because of their strong resemblance to natural enamel. With your custom-made all-porcelain restoration in place, no one will ever have to know about your treatment. Meanwhile, you’ll have the freedom to smile with confidence again knowing that your health and wellbeing has improved. For more convenient service with crowns, ask us about treatment with CEREC technology.
CEREC One Hour Crowns
While traditional crowns require scheduling two appointments with your dentist in Ridgefield, CEREC can give you the complete restoration you need in just a couple of hours. CEREC, which stands for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics, or CEramic REConstruction, is an advanced dental system that allows Drs. Jones and Franzese to design, build and place a dental crown in just one visit.
The system consists of an intraoral camera that captures a detailed visual image of the tooth in need of repair; computer hardware and software that designs a crown that is the correct size, shape and color; and a milling unit equipped with burs that carve the crown right here in our office. You will leave with a high-quality ceramic crown to protect and preserve your tooth.
Dental Bridges
A bridge is a special restoration designed to help patients fill in gaps left behind by missing teeth. Most dental bridges are composed of a replacement tooth and two abutment crowns. Your crowns will be placed over healthy teeth to provide the entire restoration with a secure, stable foundation. In addition to filling in the gap in your smile and improving health and functionality, your crown will prevent remaining teeth from shifting out of place.
Having a bridge necessitates some special oral hygiene care at home. In addition to brushing at least twice a day and flossing once a day, you’ll also need to use a special floss threader to clean between the bridge and the gum tissue underneath. Food particles and plaque can accumulate in this narrow space and eventually lead to gum disease. You’ll also want to pay close attention to the area where dental crowns meet your gum line. Plaque can build up here just as easily as it does along your natural teeth. With proper care, a dental crown and bridge restoration can give you years and years of smiles!
